Every three weeks, one session on the skill each person is weakest at

Platinum Part 1 now sends every user a new training session every three weeks, and it opens with the skill they are weakest at. The order and the difficulty come from that person’s own Knowledge Check result, so no two people are handed the same programme. Four session topics ship in this release: links, login pages, attachments and advanced attachments.

The problem

A test that only measures is a report, not training. Most security awareness training assesses people once, files the score and then hands everyone the same course anyway. The assessment changes nothing about what anyone is asked to learn. People who already read a sender domain carefully sit through a module on sender domains. People who have never looked at a file extension get the same few minutes on it as everyone else, and for them it is not enough. Both groups leave with their actual gap untouched.

Why the Knowledge Check decides the programme

We built Platinum Part 1 so that the test does something. The Knowledge Check is not a score for a dashboard: it decides which skill a user starts with and how hard their first session is, and it keeps deciding as they work through the topics. Sessions then arrive three weeks apart rather than as one course, because a dense block of training is completed and forgotten, and spacing it out is what moves a skill from something a person recognises to something they do.

Each user starts with the topic where they have the most to gain, because that is the session that changes the most behaviour for the time it takes. Someone who reads domains well but never checks attachments starts on attachments. Difficulty adapts inside a topic as well as between them, so an experienced user who lands on links gets the version that is still hard for them rather than the beginner one.

The four topics in this release are the ones that stop the most real phishing. Links covers verifying primary domains and reading shortened URLs. Login pages covers when to enter personal data and when not to. Attachments covers suspicious file extensions and how to verify a file before opening it. Advanced attachments covers macros, compressed files and other high-risk file types.

Frequently asked questions

When does a user get their first session?

Everyone who has completed the Knowledge Check gets their first session automatically. Anyone who has not receives an email invitation to take it first, because without a result there is nothing to base the order on.

In what order do the sessions arrive?

Weakest skill first, then a new topic every three weeks, each time the one where that user has the most to gain. The order belongs to the user rather than to a fixed curriculum, so two people who started on the same day can be on different topics.

What do the four topics cover?

Links: verifying primary domains and shortened URLs. Login pages: when to enter personal data and when not to. Attachments: suspicious file extensions and verifying an attachment. Advanced attachments: macros, compressed files and high-risk file types.

Do I need to change anything as an admin?

No. If you have already set up Platinum enrolment, the sessions roll out on their own.
